Starck, Jean

ARTWORKS

Jean Starck, born in 1948, is a French artist. Jean Starck fights against the idea of an official art and following academic models. Wanting to represent the counterculture, he became a co-founder of the group Art Cloche, an alternative and marginal cultural group, where he was a key figure. Rebellious and nonconformist, the artist found an artistic language that expresses his deep reality. Living several years within a community of squatters artists, his paintings depict this atypical life. Many of his works bring the viewer in this anarchist ambiance.

Mixed-media urban collage combining graffiti, portraiture, and bold text over vivid layers of red, yellow, and black, expressing rebellion, identity, and underground artistic protest.
